Gallery Night and Outfit!

Hey guys,
I feel like it's been foreverrr since I posted anything on here. Summer has come and almost gone and I'm just soaking up what's left of it over here in bean town. I'm a summer baby and I love everything about it (I just turned 25 July 22nd!) but I'm looking forward to the cool breeze of fall and the changing leaves.

I recently was able to share some of my work at a gallery show called Flora, a Boston Photography Center group show. It was an amazing experience and I most definitely wanted to share it on here.

Boston Photography Center members were able to collaborate and display a subject we all have in common; flowers! Each of us had two flower images that we contributed to the show. Here's a little excerpt from the invite.

"Flowers! Why does the Photography world recently taboo such beauty? Why must flowers be kept out of the galleries ? And why do we mainly see photographs of Flowers in black and white and not the actual vividness of its original colors ! Flowers are one of the most sensual subjects.

Georgia Okeefe once quoted : " I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty!

Its finally here ! Summer has come and brought with it the most beautiful array of flora and fauna to the Boston area. The creative minds at the Boston Photography Center have put together a fantastic floral art show, one that showcases fifteen Boston area photographers."

I was so excited and happy to be a part of this. I really loved the whole experience. From having to blow up one of my images that big, to having it arrive not exactly how I expected, and finally having it shown in a gallery with a bunch of amazing photographers. It was surreal and I loved every second of it.

The images I showed were taken on two different occasions. The orange one with the single bloom was taken in Spain. I spotted this flower against the orange wall and had to capture it. It's simple but really showcases the beauty of flowers and how they adorn and compliment this earth and it's man made structures.

My second image was taken on a photo walk down my street. The woman caught me taking pictures of her garden from the side walk and came out to talk to me. I got nervous she was going to yell but instead she started talking about how much she loves to garden and began naming the different plants she has and what they are known for. She said she spends all her money from her paychecks on gardening!  I love this flower because of how much joy it gave this woman and of course for how bright and beautiful it is!
