This shoot was totally free styled but it started to take on a story of it's own. She starts out as an everyday ballerina and begins to change gradually with each way the tutu transforms her, ultimately blossoming and seeing herself in a different light.
Yana and her mom made this amazing tutu and I just engulfed her in it! Yana is an amazing dancer and I love working with her because she moves so gracefully. She really dove in and took on some of these strange poses. I love how they turned out. My favorite is the second to last one! Which one is yours?
This is a lovely series. There is movement and change, emotion and transformation. I especially love the first picture as it establishes who she is, a dancer on pointe, holding herself perfectly in balance. Then #4 (gorgeous!!!) enthralls me with the mystery of her beauty and energy, looking like a bride on the threshold of change. Then the shot where she's retreating into nature, only to soar at the end. I love the story here. I can also hear the laughter and fun you must have had together while doing this amazing photo shoot. The behind the scenes shots must be fabulous as well. XXOO
