Tunic Transition Series: Fall

When I spotted this long pink tunic at Goodwill I basically flipped! I have been very attracted to pink lately-have always loved it but have felt more of an attachment to it lately. The tunic quickly became my most worn thing in my closet because it transitions so well with layers! Tunics have existed in almost every culture and part of the world in some shape or form so it makes sense to me why this one proved to be so versatile. The light pink also acts as a neutral and can be paired with so many colors.

Around that time I had this idea to style it through the seasons and then put it all together to share. I meant to photograph four different looks but never got a chance to do it so I decided to just share as I go. This was taken in the fall by my hubby/turned blog photographer Anthony. Almost everything is thrifted besides the leggings and the necklace. Afghan necklace is from the amazing Zamarut Jewel . I loved how it made it look a bit like a southwestern neck tie. The hat and vest are also some finds that got really excited about. The hat had two cloth flaps that I tied into a scarf. I felt very fashion-y in it. I have no idea the origins of the vest. It looks like a carpet and has such a gorgeous pattern. I have also really been loving green (are you noticing the trend? Most of my outfits are inspired by the color mood I'm in).

The backdrop is an old rundown building on a property that I technically was not supposed to be on. The things you do for a cool backdrop! The green leaves  and multicolored bricks were so beautiful.

Hope you enjoyed these and winter will be up next!

I feel as though I was hibernating this year..lots of changes in my work life and trying to balance it all. I am looking forward to this year. I feel an urge to get into creating, creating, and more creating and also NOT CARING too much about the outcome. I want to feel the process fully. Wish you all love and light in whatever direction you are going.
Happy new year!

Gypsy Blues: Snow snow go away

Gypsy in The Snow-4126

Gypsy in The Snow-4129

It's been a bit quiet over here. I'm working on a few projects at once trying to finish things up and release them. Until I finish those, I thought I would put this outfit post up that I did last week. It's been incredibly cold and snowy in Boston. Not the pretty, let's go frolic in the snow, kind of snow. The kind that stays piled up on the sidewalks for days. I actually took these on the front steps because there was nowhere to stand without seeing the yucky brown snow piled up.

I figured I would brighten up the muckiness with this gypsy, black and pink ensemble featuring my friend Jean's beautiful upcylced sweater creation! I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow blogger Jean from drossintogold a few weeks ago when she was visiting Boston from Georgia. It was soo refreshing to meet such a beautiful soul. She found me through another amazing blogger HijabRevival who featured me on her blog some time ago (thank you girl!!!). If you haven't checked either of them out, GO!! The internet amazes me. It is thought of as this evil entity but like anything in this world it can be used or abused. In this case it brought together amazing souls with a common love for fashion and self expression.

Jean has been such a source of inspiration and friendship to me, and I'm so grateful for that. I was so amazed at her sense of style when I browsed through her blog. You can tell when style comes from within, an expression of who you are. Her blog is also full of thrifted outfits, which I love, but what elevates it is her craft of up cycling and personalizing things to make them her own. The shawl I'm wearing above was created from different cashmere sweaters. It has such detail, and seriously kept me warm during this cold winter day. Thank you Jean for the gift! I feel like I'm wearing a piece of her which is so beautiful :)

Keep shining whereever you are and keep tuned in to catch some of my new work up on this blog! I will be releasing an editorial called Fall Vibes and a self portrait series called Grow a Garden (if you follow me on instagram or facebook you have seen some images from both already).

Much love,
Feda

Boston Fashion Week: Candice Wu Couture 2013

I think I can officially say I've come to the dark side after seeing the fusion of Candice Wu and House of Cach at the Candice Wu Couture show at the W hotel in Boston. This show had so much taste. The setting of the cold stone at the W hotel was a great backdrop for the color scheme of the gowns. The designs were beautifully made, with a blend of hard and soft, dark and light, flowy yet structured. The models were impressive in emoting and expressing the feel in the clothing and accessories. It all just fit so naturally. You could tell a lot of hard work was put into creating each piece and it came together so beautifully.

I can't gush enough about the union of House of Cach with these gowns. They were like the icing on the cake, each piece so intricate and unique. I was first introduced to House of Cach at a photoshoot I assisted with Tracy Aiguier and I was thoroughly impressed with the artistry of her pieces. They are not for the shy at heart, not everyone can pull off the bug look, but they certainly make a bold statement. I own a House of Cach ring (which you can see here) and it's the one item I get the most compliments/comments on. I'm just obsessed with it all now!

The show was so refreshing to watch and photograph! These are a few photos from the night!
